Me and the DNC

It was a great time to be a Democrat in Denver, but my participation was limited to two events: I volunteered at the Yoga Health Festival in City Park. This was a fundraiser for a foundation that aims to bring health education to underserved youth. It was poorly attended, probably due to the competition from other events in town. Anyway, here I am in the back, looking particularly devotional. I also attended an event called Meditate '08. A local Buddhist entered the lottery to get access to one of the parks surrounding the Pepsi Center for one day. Instead, he got six days, and organized Meditate '08. I went down one day and heard a Zen guy from around Boulder and Sharon Saltzberg, who is a pretty well-known meditation teacher. It really was a nice event. I never even got downtown to gawk at the protesters and all because Dan's mom had knee surgery last week, and the day I was going to go, I didn't feel like I should leave her. She is fine now. Now that all the flap is over, it is my intention to start in on campaign volunteering. Only 8 weeks, and I don't think we can sit around complaining if we're not willing to do anything. Arapahoe County, where I live, is one of the most GOP areas in the country, and the wisdom is, however Arapahoe County goes, Colorado will go, and the country will go. Sheesh.
