Sorry For Not Updating!!

We have been extremely busy around here, mostly just trying to keep Lex away from poor Lola. Sometimes the boy has no idea how to be gentle. :) Thank goodness she's sturdy!! LOL!! Anywho! Things are going well here. Kevin is working tons, I'm home with the kids trying to keep it all together. It's so much harder with 2 little ones. We're managing though and hoping things will get easier and easier as time goes on. Lola is getting so big! She was already a big baby, but now she's just HUGE!!! I don't know how that little girl is holding herself up, she's heavy! LOL! Raven is doing great in school. We've had some teenager issues lately but they seem to be working themselves out. Lex is talking, talking, talking and getting into as much as he can. He really is a good boy, he just forgets that at times. HAH! I've decided to start baking my own bread and trying to cook healthier meals for the family. We'll see how that goes. :)

I have to run, Lola is demanding my attention and so is Lex. I'll leave you with some pictures.....

This sucker's going down

Here's what I have done since my last post, other than worrying about my personal economy as well as the country's.

-- 3 days of Anusara yoga with John Friend and other senior teachers in Estes Park. It was awesome, mainly because everyone there smiles at each other. No separation. All the bhakti increasing the shakti, or something like that.

-- Canvassing for Obama Saturday. Not real productive, as most folks are either not home or don't answer their door. But we keep going until we start the GOTV effort in a couple of weeks.

-- Volunteered at a Latinos for Obama picnic. Mainly a voter registration effort with free food, live music and stuff for kids.

So, I'm busy. As we all are. This will be my last post if everyone remains this disinterested in each other. Right now, I don't see any need for this blog to clog up the blogosphere.

Week Three

It's interesting -- today there are more undecided voters who want to talk than in any of the other 5 times I have been out. They are truly undecided. So, I keep talking ...

I'm off to Estes Park for Yoga Journal conference. No news. No e-mail. No politics.

Canvassing, Weekend Two

Arapahoe County Republicans are rude.

184 Doors

A weekend of canvassing for Obama yielded these highlights:

> Registering to vote a veteran (Marine, Iraq) as a Democrat supporting Obama.

> Registering to vote a 92-year-old woman who has never voted and who is as yet undecided on the election.

> Canvassing with a 70-something white Republican male who lives in "The Preserve." Not sure if you all remember this very affluent neighborhood on Orchard Road, in the vicinity of the last place Mom was.

Door-knocking is exhausting work (all the walking, and being "on"), but the stakes are so high in this election, that I plan to do it every weekend.  The talking isn't hard at all. I encourage you to get involved. For yourselves, your kids and your grandkids.

Japanese Visitors

This is Youhei, on the left, and Yoshihiro, who were with us from Friday - Monday. They are 20 years old and Yoshi stayed with us two summers ago for an exchange program after Jake went to Japan. Youhei stayed with another family on that trip. They came back to the States on a vacation of their own this summer and were able to connect with host families for their entire stay. We took them on a hike to St. Mary's Glacier and to Red Rocks yesterday. They also went to a high school football game and to the pool with Kate and her friends. They are very polite and gracious young men.

Me and the DNC

It was a great time to be a Democrat in Denver, but my participation was limited to two events: I volunteered at the Yoga Health Festival in City Park. This was a fundraiser for a foundation that aims to bring health education to underserved youth. It was poorly attended, probably due to the competition from other events in town. Anyway, here I am in the back, looking particularly devotional. I also attended an event called Meditate '08. A local Buddhist entered the lottery to get access to one of the parks surrounding the Pepsi Center for one day. Instead, he got six days, and organized Meditate '08. I went down one day and heard a Zen guy from around Boulder and Sharon Saltzberg, who is a pretty well-known meditation teacher. It really was a nice event. I never even got downtown to gawk at the protesters and all because Dan's mom had knee surgery last week, and the day I was going to go, I didn't feel like I should leave her. She is fine now. Now that all the flap is over, it is my intention to start in on campaign volunteering. Only 8 weeks, and I don't think we can sit around complaining if we're not willing to do anything. Arapahoe County, where I live, is one of the most GOP areas in the country, and the wisdom is, however Arapahoe County goes, Colorado will go, and the country will go. Sheesh.
