MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!!!!!!!

Here are a few pictures from Christmas. Raven didn't want me taking pictures of her Christmas morning because, well, she's a teenage girl who thinks she needs to look perfect all. the. time. LOL! So I threw in a picture of her in her cheerleading uniform. :D Hope everyone had a great Christmas!!!!!!

Tree Trimmin' Teenagers

OK, they are crappy photos, and that is because I can barely SEE in my advanced age -- but you get the idea. A bunch of teenagers (and one young adult) trimmed our tree in record time. It was great. In the middle photo, they are making mustaches out of that cottony snow material. Yeah ... great to have the big guy home, and I will attempt to get a better photo of him. The two girls are Kate's best friends. The boy is ... well ... I'm not sure ... he used to be Kate's boyfriend, but they still seem to spend a lot of time together.

Lola Is.......

The DooDoo Trickster! LOL!! That's what Kevin calls her because she's tricks you into thinking there's something seriously wrong with her, so you go running to get her, and as soon as you pick her up, she's fine! DooDoo Trickster. LOL! Anyway! Things are good here. Lex picked up some nasty, nasty bug (we thought it was Salmonella) from a Mc Donald's Playland and he was very sick the Saturday before Thanksgiving. Throwing up and very bad diarrhea. He kept throwing up for about 4 days, not constantly, mostly at night and had diarrhea during the day. We kept him hydrated and just watched him. That's the wonderful thing about kids, they are very resilient and act like nothing is wrong. Well, the Monday after Lex first got sick Kevin started not feeling well. The Tuesday he went to work despite feeling like he was going to throw up. He came home and went straight to bed! He was sick all day Tuesday day and night. He was better Wednesday morning, but still had stomach cramps. Of course, I thought he was being a big baby and told him so. Guess who got sick next? Yup! ME! And boy, oh boy was I ever sick. BLAH! That's what I get for making fun of Kevin. Karma. LOL! Yes, I was sick the night before Thanksgiving. Thank goodness my Mom came up to stay for a few days. It was the smell of her pumpkin pies that did me in. :( All day and ALL night I was miserable. I woke Kevin up at 2:30 a.m. to apologize to him for not believing him. :) We made it through Thanksgiving vacation but Lex STILL had diarrhea, so we took him in and they tested him and his dirty diaper. Everything was fine and he's back to his usual bossy self. :D

We are looking forward to Christmas, but really wish we could be with you all. We miss you all tons!! Please give us your addresses (if we don't already have them) so we can send out cards this weekend. :) I'll leave you with some pictures of the kids......

Happy Thanksgiving from Tennessee

Donna and I want to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving. We are getting our foods ready to take to her brother's house for "The Meal". She is making her signature hash brown casserole and I am making guacamole deviled eggs and traditional deviled eggs. I've decided to be the minimalist chef by not doing anything major this year since I usually do something extravagant. I figure guacamole deviled eggs are gourmet enough to not be difficult and still make a showing.

Thankful

I think things are going to be pretty busy this week so I just want a minute to say how thankful I am to have all of you. Family is the place you come from and what forms who you become. I love our likeness and our diversity, the people we have become. I miss you and will be thinking of you this Thanksgiving. Have a happy!

news from jasper

This week as I was in route to help friends with some paper work a fire truck passed me. I being me meandered along wondering where it might have gone. I turned on the appropriate road, topped the hill and saw a huge cloud of smoke coming from my friends house. I zoomed up the drive and ran to help clear a fire break . The fire was burning about 2 acres of woods between 2 houses and the wind was blowing like crazy. The wind died and the pump truck finally arrived followed by a bulldozer. The houses were fine but the fire got within 20 feet of one and had to be evacuated. Rex was just one week past a chainsaw mishap and tore some stitches but is ok. It was scary how fast the fire moved and we were all very thankful no one lost their home.
Gillian and Kayla's families moved into apartments in Jasper this week. Log homes are very bad for asthma kids.
Bill is home til Dec.1. Hurray!

This guy ...

In Obama's speech on Tuesday night, he thanked "the young people who rejected the myth of their generation's apathy; who left their homes and their families for jobs that offered little pay and less sleep." Here's one of them, assigned to a group of mostly middle-aged suburbanites in a heavily Republican area. He's a remarkable guy, with profound patience and an uncanny ability to get people working.

I'm Back!

Hey everybody! Our computer crashed, and I lost all my favorites, emails, etc. We got a new computer, and I finally found this blog again! I hope everyone is doing well. I've just started looking back at the months of posts, so it's going to take me a while to catch up!
This is Mom back earlier in the summer at Greenville Place. She still loves to hold and pet Roxy, even though Mom doesn't seem to remember her.
Talk to you soon! :)

Maggie update

Hi everyone. Sorry I have not posted anything in so long. Motherhood is keeping me busy! Maggie is two months old today and I cant believe how much she has changed. The first few weeks were rough and I thought how does anyone do this but as the weeks pass it gets better and better! We even have sleeping on her back in her bassinet. Last night she fell asleep around 10:30 and didn't wake up until 5! Here are some updated pics!
Hope everyone is well and will talk to you all soon.
Liz, Travis, and Maggie.

That's gonna leave a mark

With five halloween parties to go to, I had to start working on the makeup this week. It even shocks me how realistic it is starting out. How hardcore will I go? I will shave (UGH!) I have shaved the beard completely only one other time in my adult life, and it was last halloween. lol. I will post the final transition. Let's put a smile on that face!

Mike and I have not been able to make comments to anyone's posts ever since the Japanese visitors. It just occurred to us that hopefully we can make new posts work. Mike's sandwich picture worked so this should, too

Love to everyone

Sorry For Not Updating!!

We have been extremely busy around here, mostly just trying to keep Lex away from poor Lola. Sometimes the boy has no idea how to be gentle. :) Thank goodness she's sturdy!! LOL!! Anywho! Things are going well here. Kevin is working tons, I'm home with the kids trying to keep it all together. It's so much harder with 2 little ones. We're managing though and hoping things will get easier and easier as time goes on. Lola is getting so big! She was already a big baby, but now she's just HUGE!!! I don't know how that little girl is holding herself up, she's heavy! LOL! Raven is doing great in school. We've had some teenager issues lately but they seem to be working themselves out. Lex is talking, talking, talking and getting into as much as he can. He really is a good boy, he just forgets that at times. HAH! I've decided to start baking my own bread and trying to cook healthier meals for the family. We'll see how that goes. :)

I have to run, Lola is demanding my attention and so is Lex. I'll leave you with some pictures.....
